New Member Appointed to MTDC Board, Leonard L. Lewin, Esq. Named by Governor Swift

Boston, January 15, 2003 - Today, Robert J. Crowley, President of the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), announced that Governor Swift has appointed Leonard Lewin, Esq. to MTDC's Board of Directors. MTDC provides venture capital funding for start-up and early-stage technology companies. Since 1979, MTDC has invested more than $62 million in 114 Massachusetts firms.

Mr. Lewin is a Partner at Gadsy Hannah, LLP, where his practice focuses in business-related consulting and litigation. Gadsby Hannah, LLP is a top-25 law firm headquartered in Boston, MA. Founded in 1963 by a former Chairman of the SEC, Gadsby Hannah provides counsel to businesses and organizations with national and international interests to private individuals and entrepreneurs, to public entities and government agencies, and to the investment firms and financial institutions that support them.

Mr. Lewin has been practicing law since 1973. From 1999 through 2002, Mr. Lewin served as Chief Legal Counsel to Massachusetts Governors A. Paul Celluci and Jane Swift. While there, he served on the Governor's senior staff and advised on all legal and policy matters. He was also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Suffolk University Law School from 1974 to 2001, and continues to be a Lecturer at the University's Center for Continuing Professional Development. Mr. Lewin is also Chairman of the Executive and Eastern Regional Committees of the Judicial Nominating Council for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Mr. Lewin holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Suffolk University.
